Back from Brooklyn and now I’m getting ready to head out to Portland, OR. I’ve never been to the northwest before and everyone has always told me I’d love it so I’m super excited to see this part of the country. I’m heading out there for the 2nd Annual Summit of Awesome, June 16-18, hosted by Hello Craft. Last year I attended this event in DC, where the ladies of Hello Craft are based and where they produce Crafty Bastards every year, one of my most favorite craft markets! For a recap of last year’s event check out the article I wrote for VenusZine.com.
Not only am I attending the event, but I will also be speaking on Event Sponsorship with Kim Dorn, one of the event’s organizers, on Friday, June 18 at 9:30 am.
Event Sponsorship with Christy Petterson and Kim Dorn –Parsons- Looking to take your crafty event to the next level? Learn how sponsorship can help build relationships with the community and help with your finances. Session highlights include how to approach potential sponsors and the pros and cons of big and national versus small and local.
Annnnd, I will also be demonstrating screen-printing techniques:

Screen Printing with Christy Petterson –Gym- Learn a simple screen printing technique with Christy Petterson, then try your hand at it yourself and print a design onto a handkerchief. Bring a cotton t-shirt, scarf or tote bag to print on instead.
Annnnnnnnnd, on Saturday, I’ll be a vendor at the Show of Awesome at Doug Fir Lounge, 10-3 pm.
I’ll be selling stuff like this:
If you’re headed to the Summit, I strongly recommend that you also check out the schedule of events and the list of amazing speakers. Special shout outs to:
* Becky Striepe of Glue and Glitter, my travel peep, who will be speaking on Green Craft: Sourcing Materials and Business Practices and will also be demonstrating how to Make a Cup Glove
* Cathy Pitters of Bossa Nova Baby and Crafty Wonderland, my hostess, who will be speaking on Craft fair Organizing and The Creative Community
Hope to see you at the Summit and if not, wish me luck and I’ll update you here upon my return! xo
Have fun! I will try and stop by and introduce myself at Doug Fir!
