CABBAGETOWN ARTS FESTIVAL

Super excited to announce the first event (other than Kraftwork) that I’ll be participating in this year … The Very, Very 1st Cabbagetown Arts Festival! Come on out to Carroll Street in Cabbagetown (that’s Atlanta 30312) on March 14, noon-6 p.m. for the artists market and stay on til midnight for music, food and festivities! I’m happy to say that some of the proceeds from the event will go to Wonder Root, a local non-profit arts facility.

The purpose of the event is to turn the date — MARCH 14 — into a celebration of Cabbagetown’s resurgence. March 14, 2008 was a bad day for Atlanta as an F2 tornado ripped through downtown and nearby neighborhoods (including Cabbagetown and Vine City). Cabbagetown has always been one of my favorite ATL neighborhoods so I was sad to see it messed up. The tornado also caused over $75 million worth of damage where I work as Public Relations Specialist. It’s weird to see the roof ripped off portions of a monumentally enormous building … especially when it’s the place where you spend most of your time. I’m still rattled.

So I have to say, more than my normal excitement over participating in a craft market, I’m really happy to be participating in this specific event. Please come out and join us!
