The Atlanta Craft Mafia asked me to speak on a panel this past week for their first Knit-Working event. Knit-Working is going to be an ongoing members-only series of discussions related to the business end of craft. I felt so honored that they asked me to speak! I got to present with my friends Tracy and Buffi of Tweet Design, who spoke about branding. I’m going to turn my talk into an article sometime in the next month or son.
The event was held at Wonder Root, a new arts resource center. Their slogan is “uniting artists and community to inspire positive social change…” and I totally believe it! I felt so inspired seeing all the resources that will be available to me once I join Wonder Root. Here are more details from their website:
For just $10/month Atlanta artists can have unlimited access to our production facilities on a first come first service basis.
Our studios include a darkroom, recording studio, digital media lab, and ceramics studio. We also have meeting and classroom space, as well as a small performance space. Our hope is that the Community Arts Center will be a jumping off place for artists to engage their communities through art. We will hold regular workshops ranging from music production and film developing to bookmaking and poetry.
Wow! If you live in Atlanta, there are no excuses for not making art now!
