The New York Times ran an article today called “For Craft Sales, the Recession Is a Help.” The article discusses the increase in sales at craft supply stores and on sites such as Etsy this holiday season as people choose to make gifts and buy handmade because of the tough economy.
I am quoted at the end of the article as, you know, a staunch believer in buying handmade. Still too early to post what I’ve bought for Christmas gifts this year, but you can rest assured the majority of them were made by crafters.
