Summertime!
Unlike many other summers in my adulthood, I have made a real effort to try and embrace summer this year. I dream of it all year and then am miserable because of the heat. This time, I’ve got to get something more out of it!
The summer state of mind started at the end of May when my sister and baby niece came to visit the ATL from San Diego for my brother’s graduation. We had a really fun week together, including a little trip to Columbus, Ga to see my grandmother, uncles, aunt and cousins. It was also great to spend extra time with my mom and brother that week! Congratulations to David, the graduate!
Next on the agenda was the Indie Craft Experience Lucky #7. It was seriously the hottest day ever!!! I got really sunburned despite tons of SPF45. But it was worth it. The day was so awesome and the pre-party the night before was a ton of fun. We had a tremendous turn out for both events and hopefully everyone in the ATL was reminded once again how great indie craft is!
Once ICE was over I was really free to embrace summer!
Went to Screen on the Green at Centennial Olympic Park to see Chicago …
…with my lovely peeps from work (Ashley, AJ & Nicole)
Went to the Fox Theatre to see Casablanca with Mom & David…
…with the obligatory stop by Krispy Kreme afterwards…
Ate dinner for the first time at Dante’s Down the Hatch…
…with the man and friends from work…
Met friends at Manuel’s for beer…
Went on a very nice date with Davis, which involved dinner at the Brick Store (where we first met), beer & shuffle board at Twain’s and a late night viewing of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull…
Went to Tracy Wagner’s art opening at Whitespace gallery with Shannon…
…which included t-bone cookies…
Went to the first Magpie Vintage party at Young Blood Gallery & Boutique (and bought a cute dress!)…
Saw Davis play several times…
Had a long over due brunch with my longest running friend…
Became obsessed with picnik, which I used on my photos for my application to the Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago. I got in!…
Went to see Alison Krauss and Robert Plant at Chastain Amphitheater.
Took (am taking) a silversmithing class…
…at the beautiful Callanwolde Fine Arts Center…
Additionally, I have: gone swimming, gone to Ben & Jerry’s for ice cream, gone to a cook out, taken my shoes off to sit in the grass (which turned into a full on snooze in the park), watched a thunderstorm on a friend’s front porch, gone to two local farmers markets (Decatur Organic Farmers Market with my Mom and East Atlanta Village Farmers Market with Shannon), celebrated numerous birthdays (including my Mom’s), watched Juno, all 3 of the original Indiana Jones movies, many episodes of Arrested Development, Stand by Me, My Big Fat Greek Wedding and WALL-E, read Craft Inc., Lotta Prints (almost done) and (currently 1/2 way through) re-reading Sophie’s Choice.
All in all, it’s turning out to be a pretty nice summer!
Your whole family is so adorable! And I love that Davis is still rocking that stache. So awesome.
thanks indiaromeo!!!
oh yes, the stache rocks on … i’m sooo curious how long it will last!
