Also, if you haven’t been by Young Blood Gallery to see the Seasons show please go check it out. The show is up until December 27th. You’ll get to see how this turned out, as well as pieces from 60 artists.

After a very busy past few weeks, I treated myself to a little magazine reading in bed this morning. In two of my favorite magazines I discovered a new trend — converting old suitcases into amazing storage. Love it!

I really enjoy that both make-overs are food related but each could be used for a variety of different items: books, tchochkes, little framed photos.

ReadyMade published their project online here, but you should really buy a copy of both magazines for all the other amazing stuff, including some friends of mine! In ReadyMade you can read tips on how to buy a house from Garth Johnson and Claire Joyce, and in Bust you can read sewing tips for repairing your clothes from Kelly Rand.

One thing I love about Atlanta is that there is always something going on. I’m literally never bored. In fact, I simultaneously don’t get to go to as many events as I’d like and long for more lazy do-nothing time. Once again, I’m here to let you know about some upcoming ATL fun! Keep reading for deets about a trunk show, an art talk, a craft market, and two art openings … loads of free, inspiring fun.

Squash Blossom is hosting a trunk show for designer Amanda Gary this Saturday. Amanda has participated in the Indie Craft Experience several times with her beautiful bags made from reclaimed leather.

Next up, Sylvie Fortin, Editor-in-Chief of Art Papers, conducts an informal discussion of the aesthetic, political, and economic factors of contemporary art.

The following evening, October 1st, I have to insist that you stop by Young Blood Gallery for Kraftwork, the mini-monthly indie craft market that I co-organize.

On Friday, October 9th, head over to Oakland Cemetery for a one night only event of paintings and garden installations by local artist Cooper Sanchez.

Finally, mark your calendar for the 2nd annual Day of the Dead Show curated by Tweet Design. Over 70 artists, musicians and designers started with identical minature coffins, and you’ll love seeing their varied interpretations. Exhibit ends November 29th.
 

We had a great time at my 5th Renegade Chicago last weekend! The weather was amazing, the drive up with my hubby Davis and fellow crafter/friend Jessica was fun, we had a great time hanging out with new friends Brett & Crystal of Vital Industries and old friend Kurt of Swear Jar Design, there were so many amazing crafters at the event and over all I’d say a good time was had by all. The show continues to get easier each year from a logistics standpoint, and I look forward to heading back up there next year!

Come see me in Booth 111, on Division near the corner of Wolcott St…across the street from the Renegade Handmade shop! I love this show and this will be my 5th time to participate. I feel honored to share Division Street with so many other amazing crafters and artists.
